You have received the AfterLife, the life of Jason Eller and AfterNine.

Thank you everyone who joined up this month on the email list, especially the warm welcome home to Alpena last week and everyone who came out to Ten Bells to support fire victims.  This AfterLife is meant to be a portrayal into what the music business is when there is no label; only drive, friendship and the will of the fans.

WGRD GI BOOTLEG

Thanks to everyone who showed up at the release of the WGRD Bootleg.  Thanks to all those who have been making requests to the radio station.  Thanks to all of you who called or emailed to let us know it was on.   You can now pick up your copy of the Bootleg at Meijer stores or online @ http://WGRD.com.  Also, you can call WGRD to request “This Wasn’t the Deal” @ 800.WGRD.979.

Track number six, “This Wasn’t the Deal,” is wedged between Dutch Henry and Ag Silver (last year’s winner of the Hometown Rock Search).

CHRISTMAS CAROLING –Wednesdays 6:30pm

Christmas Caroling is a lost art it seems.  Not only is it a chance to get together, sing and be silly; it’s a chance to give something that doesn’t cost anything.  Wednesdays in December we will be Christmas caroling in the Grand Rapids area from 6:30pm – 7:30pm.  We will meet at 6:25pm at the Kava House TOMORROW, December 7 for our first ever caroling.  Bring warm clothes and……..that’s about it.  We’ll have some sing and do some funning!   Just show up.  We’ll have the words to the carols written down.

Each Monday, an email will be sent out to the Grand Rapids crew with information on that week’s destination and where we will meet.  We may hit a hospital, apartments, neighborhoods--  Who knows?  We may get some free hot chocolate out of the deal.  Let’s see if caroling is like a Dickens’ novel in Grand Rapids.  If you have suggestions of places to carol, please respond and we’ll see what happens.

We hope everyone will join us as we move like a pack of rabid singing wolves bringing the sweet howls of Christmas to strangers.

RADIO TAVERN FIRE and BENEFIT

This month we lost what could have been one of Grand Rapids’ greatest small venues.  The Radio Tavern has been a hub for local music since long before AfterNine came on the scene.  Nevertheless, we were warmly welcomed into the family groups to have steady performances.

Regardless of how you feel about the bar, we hope your compassion extends to those families and individuals who were displaced by the fire.  About 25 people lost their personal possessions in the fire and last Friday (Thanks to Heather on Myspace.com) we were @ 10 Bells with other local acts raising money to help those affected by the fire.  (This is not for the business of the Radio Tavern.  This is for those who were living there only.)

FULL CIRCLE AGENCY(http://FullCircleAgency.com)

“The current contract is up and I’m looking at resigning with Full Circle Agency.  The previous contract was for 6 months and ended in November.  The previous contract was an exclusive agreement, which gave the FCA full control over booking management and promotion.  With the new contract, I will be able to maintain my own bookings as well as having FCA work like crazy to make calls and contacts.   If you’re interested in this side of music, feel free to ask questions of me personally at Jason@AfterNineRocks.com.

After so many years of booking for myself and AfterNine, it’s not easy to let go of all of the pieces that have helped me feel successful in this business.  No matter what, it comes down to allowing someone else to be in charge of my career.  That entails trust.  And with many of you knowing, through the AfterLife, of some of my other endeavors, you understand why trust is not easily given in this business.”   - Jason

PICTURES ON THE WEBSITE

If you have pictures that you would like to put up at AfterNineRocks.com, you can go into the pictures, find the date and click to add your photos.

If the date you want to put your photos up for is not available, you will need to begin a new gallery, which you can do by going to SHOWS and looking at the ARCHIVE dates.  Once in the ARCHIVES, there will be green text to the left indicating how many photos there are in the gallery.  If it says NO PHOTOS, you can clicfk and add your pictures.  You will be the first to open the new gallery.

Have fun posting.  And don’t forget, you can chat, and use the message board also on the interactive site.

TWO HOURS VIDEO

The Full Circle Agency, along with Jason, has decided to postpone the shooting of the video for Two Hours until the beginning of February.  Our December date just did not leave enough time for sponsorship responses, and we know many people have said they wouldn’t be able to make a December date due to family engagements.  It’s amazing how much time is needed to finalize projects such as this.  Sponsorship packages can take up to a month or two to get through corporate offices.  There are lots of hoops we are just revving to jump through to see this video take off.  The extra time we have to work will just create a better product for the fans.

STREET TEAM

In the upcoming months, Jason has solo shows from Grand Rapids to Detroit to Chicago.  If you would like to expend some of your time helping to promote for shows with the possibility of earning prizes and getting to know Jason as well as others who are helping to actively promote this music, check out what the Street Team is doing.  If you can print a flyer, send an email, and or make it out to a show, we’d love to have you on the team.

TOUR DATES

FYI – When you look at the SHOW DATES on the website, clicking on a venue will bring up a new window with map information, phone number, possible opening acts, cover-charge or other need-to-know stuff.

SONG SPOTLIGHT – Journal Entry

Time to break down again huh?

How long can you keep this up?

Until your so-called sins let you go?

Are you so masochistic?  Do you like to crucify yourself in front of me?

All of this after the years I’ve know you and I finally met you today.

Keep telling me you want to die.

Another toxic answer to the questions you only ask when you’re obliterated.

And still another beer fills a hole while you cry

So what give you the right to make me feel this way?

What put you inside so I can’t walk away?

I’m gonna let you roll on one too many times one of these days

You’re gonna get to yourself one too many times one of these days.

The worst part is, you won’t remember tonight’s relations tomorrow.

But I will.

So when you’re sober should I tell you of the things you said?

Are we really as close as we were last night?  Or was that just the beer?

Keep telling me you’re a bad father.

Another toxic answer to the questions you only ask when you’re obliterated.

This is the first I’ve heard of a son

And what of that child when you’re sober

You know he can’t walk away.

And I’m gonna let you roll on one too many times one of these days

You’re gonna get to yourself one too many times one of these days.

The worst part is, you won’t remember tonight’s relations tomorrow.

But I will.

But I will.

Excerpts from Jason

“After playing out over the last few years, I’ve meet a lot of regulars @ the bar.  Every once in awhile, I get to actually have conversations that run deeper than a 4 hour show lends itself to.  In one case I was so stricken by what I was told I was only able to write and worry…..until 2 days later when I found out this person had no recollection of their breakdown, and I’m sure didn’t want to be reminded.  But I remember.”

That’s it.

That’s the AfterLife

Have a Merry Christmas Season!
