NEWBIES
Thanks to all the newbies from Western, Vic's Canoes, Paisano's, Teazers and Shot's for hooking up this month. Hope to see you fill up the Chat Room and Message Boards. It was great meeting all the brother's from Western's Lambda Chi Alpha. Thanks for the welcome into the group and for bringing all the brothers up to the deck.
FAN PICTURES
There will be a new gallery in the....PICTURE GALLERY for registed fans to show off their stuff. Any AfterLifer can put up a picture of themselves with their wife, partner, dog, house, motorcycle, lawnmower, bottle, etc.
Street Team Members: be looking for a post regarding this on the Street Team Message Board.
PUSHING BUTTONS
Another goal for the website this month is to make buttons for each link on the website. It's been brought to our attention that members didn't even know that they could click the links on the top of the page (Bio Listen Shows Contact/Booking........etc). If you are one of these, we apologize for the misunderstanding and want to make the site more user friendly.
THE FULL CIRCLE AGENCY
Because they've broadened their show base to contain many of the venues Jason plays - not just charity events, and have taken control of many of the administrative duties required to run the business of AfterNine, Artists 4A Cause has chosen to be known by another name: THE FULL CIRCLE AGENCY, encompassing a greater range of venues. This company is now booking, promoting and marketing for all of Jason's shows. You can still find them on the web @ http://Artists4aCause.com, and see the other artists they work with. Their main goal is to promote Jason where ever they can. After speaking with Chris and Angie, heads of the company, they are hoping to put Jason on a fall tour out to Boston and back. If not, the goal is spring.
It's not easy to make the transition from working for yourself to giving up control, but we feel fortunate that someone has taken the reigns, seen something in Jason and are excited to promote it. The task of promoting one's self walks on a fine line. Jason's confidence has risen greatly because of influence of the fans (hopefully to never be misinterpreted as egoism). If AfterNine was continuously working as a full band, it would be easier to say, "Hey, come see the band!", as opposed to an egocentric sounding sentence like, "Hey, come see me!". That's why the fans, the bar owners, the Street Team and the friends are so dear to us. We are ALL part of AfterNine, and the word doesn't get out unless we talk about it. Thank you to everyone who reads the AfterLife.
If you pick up the JULY edition of MUSIC REVUE and turn to page 2, you will see one of Full Circle's ads.
LAKE FX RADIO COMMERCIAL
Work has begun on a commercial to promote the new disc, Acoustically Live, over the internet radio station http://LakeFXRadio.com. We are currently selecting clips and writing a script. Tom at Lake FX Radio has emphatically agreed to allow us to do this. We'll keep you up to date on the progress. Until then keep letting them know you want to hear Jason Eller by filling up their message board.
FAN SHOUTS
We always talk about the fans, and choose not to mention names, but there are a few things that need to be mentioned and people who need to be recognized. We've decided to put in a section where we can publicly recognize the great fans we have.
1) Everybody in Middleville who has helped with a place to stay, food and support. These people for months took Jason in to help him set up his business. Not only thanks for the physical support, but the moral support. Even as times are not always easy, these guys were the first to say, "If you stop, this is all for nothing".
2) Jason is currently spending most of his nights in Grand rapids with a great friend who, after returning from Arizona and California somewhat flailing and distraught, has not only helped Jason by looking through his finances and advising him, but gave him a home base in GR that really feels like.....well...home. Thank you my friend.
3) If you have been to the shows lately, you'll have noticed a tall brunette, usually in an AfterNine shirt she reconfigured to her own style. We'd like to thank her for all of her help with the Street Team. She has been working hard helping us to increas the email list and cd sales; expecting nothing more than the great music she feels had an impact on her. Thank you Alli!
4) Also this month brought a never before seen promotion. Two fans painted their car to reflect their desire to promote Jason and AfterNine. With the A9 symbol and website proudly displayed on their Liberty, they rolled into Teazers one night. They also bootlegged some shirts, but we don't mind that. To us, if you make the shirt yourself and wear it, it simply reflects what you want to do to help get the name out there......and possibly how much extra time you have :-).
Short Story- A child in india walked 2 miles to a lake with an empty clay vessel to get water for his mom's birthday. Upon his return, his mother asked why he would make such a journey when there is fresh water on the reservation. To this he replied, "Mother, the journey was part of the gift."
---We hope you all know that even though we don't always say it, there is more to knowing one is important than what is in front of the curtain.---
Obviously, the list is too great to get everybody, but we recognize those who have ALWAYS been there and those who have just jumped on. Those who paint there cars; those who are constantly on the website; Those who simply discuss AfterNine in conversation; Those who simply listen to the music when they're home; all of you have helped to make AfterNine what it has become in the last 6 years. Again, nothing happens unless the word gets out, and every month we hope that someone reads the AfterLife and sees themself in it. For without you, there is no show.
NEW TO THE ELLER FAMILY
If you have not yet seen, there is a new Journal Entry under NEWS on the website. To this day we have recieved great emails regarding the POTATOES AND NUT SALT entry. And we apologize for "Dan Quayle - ing" the spelling of the word potato.
"All the beauty in the world doesn't make up for taking away what was never yours to have. Control is and has always been an issue with me. Breaking that control and having confidence in myself has been a muse for many songs. I used to take what people said about me as truth. Now I take it, analyze it and see if it really applies to who I am, what I want to be, and where I want to take my life. After all, it is my life."
If you would rather not receive future mailings of the AfterLife, please respond to this update with the word ‘Remove’ in the subject.
