Here we go!
Tequila Willy's is just Fun! The crowd is interactive, sometimes a wee bit tipsy, but that makes the banter all the more fun. Thanks to those who got on the list and those who showed up to support. This happens every Friday on the Deck.
Chicago spouted new pictures for the website, which will be up just after school gets out for our 'Website Manager/Technician'. New songs, Run Child Run and Wish You Were Healthy were introduced.
Agent
Two Shows at Georgia Southwest have been added to the college gigs that the agent has been working to get. Dates will soon be on the website.
Goals
This month we hope to have clips of the newest songs on the website. All the pictures that have been taken, from Lansing to Chicago, will be making their way on the website. Rest. As school ends, it's time to separate for a few days. Then, an
energized Jason will begin a new style of 40 hour work week booking, recording, and maintaining the website and playing shows. Of course the hours are great; work noon to 2 then from 10pm - 3am.....oh yeah!!
Lesson
It is in the chase of a dream that dangers creep in, alienating us from that which we try to achieve. This month brought the realization that we can forget to get away from our target. ---A mural is best viewed when we step back to look what we've created.--- There are so many components to AfterNine: the music, the email list updates, the AfterLife, the webpage, the recording, sleep, learning how to use the new computer, replying to emails, PLAYING SHOWS. And of course, the love of teaching, WHICH IS THE MAJOR MONETARY SUPPLIER to this whole shindig called AfterNine. And, oh yeah the grass had to
be cut. There are only so many hours in the day. In order for AfterNine to be, some of those are time away from the goal. So many little things. Never forgetting that the Music is the most important piece. The Doc says your brain is still thinking about it even when You aren't. So we lay down and watch TV, Read, Get a Tan, whatever; to keep ourselves from getting burned out.
Lesson
It's in the personal goals we set that we achieve another rite of passage in the winding tunnels of AfterNine. This journey leads to new glories, lessons, humblings, sadnesses, elations, confusions, frustrations; and ALL of them get our gratitude. Without these things we would not successful. To quote a poster in the Language Arts teacher's room: "Success comes before Work only in the dictionary," with the understanding that Success manifests itself in more ways than the job you do to keep the Ramen Noodles stocked.
Thoughts that support Lyrics (Song Spotlight)
Loosing Letters (The P*rn Song) has been getting great feed back from all the newbies that hear it, and those who know it, are continually enjoying it. Loosing Letters is the idea that everytime I lose my mind in some menial activity, I may be loosing songs that could have been written. We are offered so many activities, which all have their place, to let ourselves relax. But Honestly.....is there any reason that we need to drive all the way from Grand Rapids to Chicago without having one thought that is more than a passing of time? You can hear the same song 8 times in a ride, not know the name of the band or anything more that a humming of the chorus. There are so many things that we could be learning, understanding, writing....(not on paper, just in the head; hands on the wheel). If we zone out, it's fun to let NPR fill your head with facts you never realized you were gonna learn.
That's it. That's the AfterLife.
