The AfterLife - Lake FX / Arizona / Reality / Honesty / Artists for Artists / Music Revue Intervue
You have received the AfterLife, The life of Jason Eller and AfterNine. http://AfterNineRocks.com http://JasonEller.com
It's an odd sort of month. California has been a great time, but not without it's tribulations (that means tests). The AfterLife has always been about honesty. Those of you who have been with us since the beginning know of all the hard times we've run into as well as the great things that have happened for us. TGhis month is no different in that sense, except that we are in California.
The AfterLife may be shorter as Jason has been jounaling once a week. To read what's going on, click NEWS on the website. These journals are not replaceing the AfterLife. THey will simply give a more updated look at what's going on in a more timely manor.
LAKE FX RADIO and SUMMER MELTDOWN
Jason Called Lake FX Radio last week to discuss what is going on in California, as his plane is scheduled to leave the 19th from LAX. During the conversation with Tom, Jason expressed his desire to remain in California and the financial implications of flying back to Grand Rapids for 2 shows then flying back out to California. Please understand, in this business, loyalty and honesty are not constants. "Feelings of disloyalty and fear of backlash from my hometown crowd kept me up all night before I called Tom," Jason said. And here is what DJ Nikko sent to us:
-------- Hey,
Don't you dare go feeling excessive about your loyalty to us. You go and get.....yourself out there. There is always a home for you here, and you're always family no matter what. You just better kick butt out there in my stomping grounds. Rock on!!! ------
Thanks Nikko. You can check out Nikko's music under his alias King raTino @ http://www.garageband.com/user/KingRaTino
And as far as Summer Meltdown goes; we encourage ALL AfterLifers in the area to support the show as Lake FX Radio has supported us. We'll be there in spirit. You show Lake FX that our fans support those who support us. Artists for Artists. The show is this Saturday all day! See the line up @ http://lakefxradio.com, ending with Darrin McCarty's band Grinder (Darrin Plays with the Redwings.....just not this past year).
NEW MANAGEMENT
Jason has signed on with Artists for a Cause, http://Artists4ACause.com. This company is a management company that is helping to promote, manage and advise Jason even out in California. The final decision is always Jason's, but this company seriously has Jason's best interests in mind. They are honest. They are hardworking. And they are all just good people. Check out the site and the other artists who have signed on.
MUSIC REVUE
May's issue of Music Revue contains an interview that Dale did with Jason last month before leaving for the tour. Check it out and feel free to email us and Music Revue as to what you thought of the interview.
ARTISTS FOR ARTISTS
We received an Email from Maryz Eyez in Grand Rapids that told us they would be on Dave Fox's Band to Band Combat. Maryz Eyez is one of GR's premium bands. They support Jason and AfterNine and we support them. Check them out @ http://Maryzeyez.com. Tonight Jason will be calling in to WGRD to vote for Maryz Eyez. If you hear it, vote. Our hometown (Grand Rapids, MI) is riddled with talent, and if you are a music lover who is sick of the cookie-cutter crap on the radio, look into your local music scene. ROCK n' ROLL Guys!
ARIZONA
May 27, Jason and FAT RHABIT (http://FATRHABIT.com) will be playing Luke Air Force Base in Phoenix, AZ. Although military shows are only for military personel, we will be playing a civilian show @ Trash City in Tempe on the 28th. If you know anyone in the area, please contact them and let them know that this national tour will be in their area. This is the only way things get done...Promotion, Promotion, Promotion. Feel free to send them the web address or Jason's personal email (Jason@AfterNineRocks.com).
NEW WEB ADDRESS
Last month http://JasonEller.com was purchased. Currently this site leads you straight to A9R.com. This move was made because of all the solo shows Jason is doing. And it's easier for people out here to remember Jason Eller than AfterNine Rocks. Soon, we will create a main page that shows the relationship between Jason and AfterNine, and then people will be directed from there to the main AfterNine site.
NEW DISC
"Acoustically Live" came out just before leaving for the tour. This disc contains all live recordings from Grand Rapids, Chicago and Indianapolis. The disc includes a song called "Ghosts on the Highway" by Jason's brother Steve (http://TheESP.com) and a track called "Golden Ticket" (a remake of a song from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and Jason's first experience with using a song that has already been copywritten). Jason Lanning lends his percussion to a couple of songs......Man we miss Lanning!.....The disc will soon be available on the website. As for now, if you'd like a copy, send us an email through the website. The cost is $13 (a buck a song) plus $2 for shipping.
Exciting things are happening Everybody! Tell everybody you know what's going on!
SONG SPOTLIGHT
Golden Ticket -Originally written by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse (1974)
I never thought my life could be
Anything but catastrophe
I never thought I’d see the day
Anything good would come my way
But I’ve got a Golden Ticket40
I never had the chance to shine
Never a happy song to sing
Suddenly half the world is mine
What an amazing thing
Cause I’ve gota golden ticket
I’ve got a golden chance to make it mine
I’ve got a golden ticket
I’ve got a golden chance Charlie
I never had the chance to climb
Over the moon in ecstasy
But now I begin to see
A bit of good luck for me
Cause I’ve got a golden ticket.
I never thought I’d see the day
When I would face the world and say
“Good morning look at the sun:
I never thought that I would be
Slap dab in the middle of the lap of luxury.
CHORUS
Excerpts from Jason - "In the time I'm in right now, I don't feel like I have a golden ticket, but I do have a golden chance to make it mine. This tour may be my golden ticket. This tour may be a notch in the bedpost of my career. But for sure, this tour is mine, and I'm going to make it everything I can with the help of those who support me. Success is not something that finds us. It is someting we strive for. I'm reminded of my time teaching, walking into Mr. Dewey's room (the 8th grade English teacher). On his wall was a poster that boasted "SUCCESS comes before WORK only in the dictionary". If I ever had a mission in my life, it would be to let people know this; we are all in charge of our own success. I've met many a person who said, "I wish I wouldn't have quit..........and followed my dreams like you're doing." I understand that comment, but we are never limited by our circumstances. That's BS if you think so! We are only limited by our drive to make something happen. If you are happy where you are, that's great. We should be able to find contentment in ourselves. But we cannot wallow in what we wish we had. I'm still opening chocolate bars looking for my golden ticket, and I may get fat looking for it, but Ramen noodles will help to keep me fit until then."
That's it. That's the AfterLife
Jason and AfterNine
