What is AfterNine? It is the journey of images dreamed long ago. This is where you can see what it is to work as a musician - not hype up the cream to make the glass full, but to lay out what happens when one pushes.....works to make something happen. To never lie on the Death Bed and say, "I could have, if I tried," but instead, "I tried." And revel in the experiences it led to.
This is The AfterLife
Chicago.
What an awesome experience! And thanks to everyone who showed up. Because of you Jason will be back on May 28 @ the Elbo Room. For the first time ever. Jason played to a large expanse of people in a way never played before. 45 Minutes of original music to an audience that had no reason to be there other than to hear music they'd never heard before….. but will again.
After the last light is darkened in the venue, it is about the light, the ideas, and the internal pleasers and peaces one takes home from those he met, the words he heard and the sights he saw. It's all just therapy sometimes;-)

If you would like to know the history and the personal significance of any of these songs, you will soon be able to read it as the website is updated with notes for each song, like a "Behind the Music" for the original music of AfterNine. Of course, you can always mail AfterLife@AfterNineRocks.com if you'd like to ask specific questions about any particular song.

Players
If you've been out to the shows, you may have seen Jason playing with other musicians. This is one of the beauties of music. To crossover from the "My band is better than your band" mentality and ake music for the sake of what it represents. For example, this summer, Rick Boyd will step back up for a few shows. Phil Davis's percussion skills have been an asset. And Jason Lanning from Kingsfoil, has graciously offered his backbeat for this Sunday's show in Middleville. Gotta give props: You can check out Jason's Drums and the rest of Kingsfoil @ http://www.kingsfoilmusic.com.
Future
The agent working with AfterNine has begun booking colleges for Jason. To this point, there is only 1 contract that has been returned; this from Montana State University: Show - September 3. Contracts are being returned from dates into next year from colleges around the country. This is very exciting: to play more original music to crowds that are just looking to experience something they haven't before. Could be something....but again - we don't hold our breath...we just breathe real slow sometimes.
This month, the recording process starts. The technology has been secured. All of the songs listed in the Chicago show will begin to be tracked for recording. This summer, you can expect to hear many more original songs at shows, then you will be able to purchase the new songs you've heard. Also, for the college market, shows will be recorded live for purchase. Jason can't wait to share the new material with you, to show you the heart that was dreamed of as a child.........and the ever so eloquently Lansing-Dubbed "Porn Song".
That's it.
