January 2004

Dates left in January

January 23 & 24 The Half Moon Bar and Grille.

Once again, AfterNine brings in special guest Phil Davis on the drums.

January 17th's solo show with Jason @ Rocky's has been moved to February. You can read about that in the next AfterLife.

This is the longer part of the letter that you read when you don't have 37 other emails in the hour.

Welcome to the Newbies, especially the crowd from the Half Moon. Whew!! You Rock!

For those who follow and Understand:

Truth......

AfterNine is about the truth in music and the business of such (which is a puzzle with a few missing pieces). There really are people who just don't call back. There's a message being sent about those who are professional and those who don't have the proclivity to even call and say, "No," honestly. Those people are not in the business that we chose to be in.

But that's not what it's about. It's about putting music out that represents a time frame, a feeling.........an emotion.

Only so many songs can be written about girlfriends. What else is there to write about? Check out the live shows and be listening for more originals to become part of the AfterNine set, as well as a lyric section on the web page for you to view before the songs are written. (This is why you are part of the AfterLife - to understand the process that should be shared. 'A painter is valuable for the imense amount of time and heart he places in each stroke of the brush.' That is what's valuable here.)

Truth to the followers.......

AfterNine is widening it's range; targeting Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids, and Chicago for the summer. Honestly, about 7-10 calls on average are made per week to managers, promoters, and venues, and callbacks, and callbacks, and call backs.......... Many are also drive-by's.

"Tonight's promotion brought AfterNine into The Brick House and the Red Bull in GR, and the Sparta Pub in Sparta". This is the work it takes to move the music. How awesome is it to love to do this. We want AfterNine supporters to know that AfterNine is pushing at the speed of a wombat with the inertia of a barge: slowly but hard to stop.

In February, AfterNine opens to new venues:Teazers Bar and Grille, Champs in Middleville, and Jason's solo shows begin at Rocky's pub.

A New Experience - Jason will be filling in as the DJ at the Kazz Bar on Thursdays. What an experience, to be surrounded by and in control of the music and light extravaganza.

That's it.

That's AfterNine

C-U @ the show.
